Martha & Me free concert

Music Makers “Me & Martha” bring Shenandoah Valley Music to Maine.

Me & Martha are performing their only public concert in Maine at the Belfast Free Library on Thursday, July 8th at 7:30pm.

Martha Hills and Don DePoy provide an opportunity to experience live music from Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and to better understand the rich cultural heritage and fabric of traditional music makers.  As part of a promotion for the Shenandoah Music Trail (www.shenandoahmusictrail.com), Martha and Don provide a history of Valley music by including personal stories and playing a variety of bluegrass, traditional country, gospel and folk songs on mountain dulcimer, autoharp, Dobro, mandolin, guitar, banjo, and bass fiddle.

Don holds a PhD. in American music and popular culture and is a 5th generation music maker from the Shenandoah Valley.  Martha is an early childhood educator and teaches in the preparatory music program at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Together, performing as “Me & Martha” (www.meandmartha.com), they are members of America’s Old-Time Country Music Hall of Fame and on the traditional artist rosters for The Virginia Arts Commission and Young Audiences of Virginia.
